Lanus – Talleres

After one draw and one defeat, Lanus returned to winning ways last Wednesday, when they reversed the score to beat San Lorenzo 3-1 away from home. Having taken seven points from the last 12 on offer, El Granate made it 30 points in 17 rounds to occupy fourth place in the league table and also approached the Copa Libertadores’ places in the 2021 aggregate rankings. At home, Luis Zubeldia’s men managed 15 of those points, having registered four victories, three draws and two defeats in this competition.

Talleres suffered a heavy blow on their fight for the title last Thursday. In spite of playing against ten men for over 80 minutes, the team lost 2-0 to River Plate at home. Now they remain second-placed on 32 points, trailing their last opponents by seven. Alexander Medina’s men lost three of the last four league games (only beating Atletico Tucuman in that span). Therefore, they probably will focus on securing a Copa Libertadores’ berth from now on: the side dropped down to the fourth spot in the aggregate table (which will very give them a ticket anyway).

A draw is pretty useless for both if they want to keep their very small chances of winning the championship alive, so I expect to see goals between this two good attacking teams.
