Lanus – Racing
Lanus fans will have felt devastated following their 1-1 away stalemate at Rosario Central after conceding the equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time. El Granate made it five points in four Liga Profesional matches. After winning only one of the last seven in league action (along with three stalemates and three losses), Ricardo Zielinski’s men have been displaced from the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. Lanus won their last domestic match at home (2-1 over Estudiantes), stopping a five-match winless run of two draws and three losses at Estadio Nestor Diaz Perez in league action. Striker Walter Bou returns from suspension on Thursday.
Racing Club celebrated a much-needed victory in MD4, beating newcomers Deportivo Riestra 1-0 at home thanks to a strike from Santiago Solari in the 95th minute. That victory allowed them to stay as one of the Liga Profesional leaders (alongside Talleres, Huracan and Union Santa Fe), accumulating ten points in four matches. In fact, La Academia made it eight league games unbeaten, winning six and drawing two, to stay occupying one of the Copa Libertadores places in the aggregate table. On away turf, Racing managed ten points from the last 12 on offer in domestic action.
I expect an open game here like almost every Racing game here. Their top scorer Adrian Martinez will be back from injury, same as striker Carbonero but they will miss their goalkeeper Arias who is with the chilean national team in Copa America, and Lanus has their top scorer Walter Bou back from suspension so I can see a game with goals that can go either way.
