Lanus – Platense

Lanus’ five-match unbeaten streak of two victories and three draws in league action came to an end last Thursday, when the team ended up losing 3-2 at Patronato in spite of having taken a 2-0 lead. Therefore, the team remain on 35 points in the Liga Profesional, which is a good campaign but not yet enough to occupy one of the Copa Libertadores’ places in the 2021 aggregate table. El Granate lost only one of their last nine home matches in this competition, winning three and drawing five.

Platense put up a good fight against league leaders River Plate last Sunday, but they ended up losing 1-0 at home. Following that result, the team lost their last two league games and also made it three defeats across the last five (winning one and drawing one), which drops them down to the 21st place in the relegation table after earning 23 points in the Liga Profesional. To make matters worse, El Calamar also are on two consecutive defeats on away turf, having lost to Defensa y Justicia and Colon.

Lanus has the 2nd best attack in the league and the 2nd worse defense, and every time they are playing I expect to see goals, specially today that they must win to keep their chances of getting a Copa Libertadores place alive.
