Lanus – Platense
Lanus are returning to a good form in the context of a hectic season. Last Thursday, the team secured a massive 2-1 away success at Talleres thanks to goals from Marcelino Moreno and Ezequiel Munoz. El Granate made it two consecutive victories in league action to accumulate 26 points in the Liga Profesional, approaching the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table (now trailing the last qualifying berth just by goal difference). Lanus lost only one of their last ten domestic matches at home, winning five and drawing four.
Platense fans will have felt frustrated after the team’s scoreless home stalemate against newcomers Deportivo Riestra last Thursday. Following that result, the team made it 29 points in the Liga Profesional and failed to approach the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table (now trailing the last qualifying berth by two points). However, El Calamar are unbeaten in their last eight league matches, winning three and drawing five. On away turf, Platense haven’t lost any of their last five, with two victories and three stalemates. Winger Guido Mainero collected his fifth yellow card in this competition last time out and is suspended for Monday.
Lanus are finally finding some good form as they keep fighting to secure a place in next year´s Copa Sudamericana and for that they need to keep winning because they are 4 points behind the last place. Platense has been overachieving lately, getting good results through not so good performances and should find trouble against this Lanus that come from beating Boca and Talleres.
