Instituto – Barracas Central
Instituto couldn’t hold onto their lead last time out and succumbed to a surprising 2-1 away defeat to CA Central Cordoba (who were bottom-placed before the game), conceding the winner just five minutes before the final whistle. That result put an end to their two-match winning streak in league action and left them on 24 points in the Liga Profesional, which however allows Diego Dabove’s men to stay occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table. Instituto have been strong at home lately: they are unbeaten in the last six, with four wins and two draws in that spell.
Barracas Central new coach Ruben Insua has a mountain to climb at the club. Last Monday, the team lost 1-0 to Banfield playing as hosts at Deportivo Riestra in his debut, a result that extended El Guapo’s winless streak to 13 league games (five stalemates and eight defeats since the opener, when they beat Godoy Cruz 1-0 away). Therefore, they dropped down to the bottom of the Liga Profesional table on eight points. Barracas are on six without a win on away turf, drawing three and losing three. Goalkeeper Sebastian Moyano remains out injured.
Barracas have been terrible lately and not even the recent coach change made them play any better. This looks like a perfect spot for Instituto to get the win they need to get closer to the leader Velez.
