Independiente vs Tigre
Independiente fans will certainly have felt frustrated following the team’s 2-2 away draw at Argentinos Juniors last weekend as they wasted a 2-0 lead and were even close to losing the game. As a result, El Rojo claimed a single victory across their last 14 matches in league action, drawing eight and losing five in that time. The side collected 14 points in the league so far, leading bottom-placed Union Santa Fe (with one game in hand) by five. Two weeks ago, Independiente secured their first home victory of the season, beating Belgrano 2-0 after three draws and three defeats at Estadio Libertadores de America. Defensive midfielder Ivan Marcone misses out due to a muscle injury.
Tigre wasted a big chance of securing a win last Sunday, when they ended up drawing 2-2 against Newell’s Old Boys at home after conceding the equaliser just three minutes before the final whistle. However, El Matador continue to produce a good campaign, accumulating 21 points in 15 Liga Profesional rounds after seven games without defeat in this competition (three wins and four draws). On a sorry note, Diego Martinez’s men have been winless in the last five on the road in domestic action, drawing three and losing two. Striker Mateo Retegui has served his one-game suspension and is ready to return.
Both come from 2-2 draws, Independiente is desperate for wins and Tigre will have one of the league’s top scorers back from suspension, so I definitely expect at least two goals here.
