Independiente vs Instituto
Independiente continue to play far below the fans’ expectations. Last Sunday, the team weren’t able to beat Banfield away from home even playing against ten men for over 75 minutes. There is increasing pressure on coach Leandro Stillitano as El Rojo are now on four league games without a win, having drawn two and lost two since beating Talleres away in the opener: the side accumulated only five points in as many matches in the Liga Profesional. In fact, Independiente are pointless at their own stadium this term: they lost to Platense and Defensa y Justicia.
Instituto returned to winning ways last Sunday, when they played in very good style to beat Newell’s Old Boys 3-1, playing as hosts at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes. That result allowed them to avoid falling into the relegation zone in the point-average table: the newcomers made it eight points in five rounds in their return to the top flight. La Gloria suffered a single defeat in their last ten matches in league action, winning four and drawing five. On the road, Instituto managed three points from six on offer this season: they beat Union Santa Fe 2-0 and lost 2-0 at Gimnasia LP.
Independiente are just awful so far this season and their coach is very close to los his job. Instituto is not that reliable when playing away, but I still can see them getting something from this game.
