Independiente vs Estudiantes
Independiente took a step back on their fight to climb into one of the continental spots last Thursday, when they showed a sorry version and ended up losing 2-1 away at Argentinos Juniors. That result stopped their three-match unbeaten streak of two victories and one draw in league action and El Rojo remain on four points in three games in the Liga Profesional so far. At home, Eduardo Dominguez’s men are on four games without defeat in domestic action, having won two and drawn two.
Estudiantes are now one of the Liga Profesional leaders following their hard-fought 2-1 home success over Sarmiento last Tuesday, when Mauro Boselli netted a brace. The team made it seven points from nine on offer after winning two and drawing one in this competition and also continue second-placed the aggregate table, qualifying for the 2023 Copa Libertadores so far. Furthermore, El Pincha succumbed to a single defeat across their last 11 away games in league action (four victories and six stalemates). Â
Estudiantes are not looking as strong as in the previous tournament, but they definitely have enough to take something from this very irregular Independiente that will have some important missings in attack.
