Independiente vs Defensa y Justicia
Independiente are still struggling to find their best version under recently-appointed coach Leandro Stillitano. Last weekend, El Rojo registered a scoreless draw away at Velez Sarsfield in a boring game, which means they are now on four points in three rounds. On a positive note, the team suffered a single loss across their last six matches in league action, winning two and drawing three. However, Independiente managed a single victory in their last four domestic games at home, along with one stalemate and two defeats at Estadio Libertadores de America.
Defensa y Justicia are now on two consecutive victories in the Liga Profesional after beating Newell’s Old Boys 1-0 at home in a hard-fought game last weekend, when midfielder Kevin Gutierrez netted the winner via a direct freekick. As a result, Julio Vaccari’s men made it six points in three rounds and they are now trailing leaders Lanus by three. In fact, Defensa are on five domestic matches unbeaten on away turf, having won three and drawn two in that time.
Both have been irregular and unreliable in the start of the season but there’s one thing for sure and it’s that they have good attacking players that can find the net at any time, so I like the short totals line here.
