Independiente vs Barracas Central
Independiente played a terrible game last Sunday and succumbed to a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat away at Tigre, which could have been a heavier rout at one point. That result represented their second consecutive defeat in league action: as a result, Julio Falcioni’s men remain on 30 points after 24 matches in the Liga Profesional, a campaign that leaves them without chances of fighting for a Copa Sudamericana ticket. At home, El Rojo lost their last game to CA Central Cordoba, which stopped a four-match unbeaten streak of two wins and two draws as the hosting side.
Barracas Central registered a 1-1 home draw against Sarmiento after conceding the equaliser in the 95th minute. As a result, Rodolfo De Paoli’s men extended their winless streak to four league games (two draws and two defeats) since beating Godoy Cruz a month ago. However, El Guapo have already secured their top-flight status for next season after accumulating 29 points in the Liga Profesional.
Independiente keep playing worse every week and they just can’t wait for this season to be over. Again they won’t have Leandro Fernandez, their best striker, and now also Facundo Ferreyra, another experienced attacker. Barracas has been unreliable lately and they won’t have their best player, playmaker Ivan Tapia, so I don’t expect much from these two teams.
