Independiente – Rosario Central

Independiente wasted a big chance last Thursday, when they had to settle for a scoreless away stalemate at Huracan despite playing against ten men since the fifth minute of the game. El Rojo made it seven points in four Copa Liga Profesional matches as a product of two victories, one draw and one defeat in group A. Independiente are winless in their last three home matches, having drawn two and lost one without even scoring.

Defending champions Rosario Central finally managed their first victory in 2024 last Thursday, when beating Independiente Rivadavia 1-0 in a hard-fought game, playing as hosts at Estadio Unico de San Nicolas. El Canalla made it five points in four rounds in Copa Liga Profesional action as they had drawn two and lost one beforehand. In fact, Central claimed a single victory across their last 17 away matches, along with nine draws and seven defeats.

I’m surprised at how these two teams have struggled to score lately despite having experienced attacking players. Independiente has been quite unlucky, creating and missing many chances in the last couple of games, and Rosario Central with the attack that won the championship last season that includes Jaminton Campaz and playmaker and playmaker Ignacio Malcorra, so I expect this trent to end soon for them and I’ll take the OVER.
