Independiente Rivadavia vs San Lorenzo
Independiente Rivadavia took another big step towards the second division last time out, when they were dominated from beginning to end and lost 2-0 away at direct relegation contenders CA Central Cordoba. La Lepra extended their winless run to four league games, drawing two and losing two, which keeps them on 20 points after 18 rounds of Liga Profesional action. That campaign is not enough to climb out of the bottom spot in the point-average rankings, far away from Sarmiento who are now safe. On a positive note, Independiente lost only one of their last six as the home side, with three victories and two stalemates. Left back Federico Milo succumbed to a muscle injury at CA Central Cordoba and will miss out on Saturday.
San Lorenzo coach Miguel Russo started his second spell at the club in a happy way: his team beat Barracas Central 1-0 at home last Sunday thanks to a strike from Alexis Cuello in the first half. In the context of a hectic season, El Ciclon lost only one of their last five league games, winning two and drawing two to make it 21 points in the Liga Profesional, which allows them to open a healthy nine-point gap over the relegation zone in the aggregate table. On a sorry note, San Lorenzo managed just two points across the last nine on offer as the visiting side. First-choice goalkeeper Gaston Gomez succumbed to a muscle problem and will miss out. Facundo Altamirano will replace him in the only expected change.
Even if they’ve been underish this season, 3 of the last 4 San Lorenzo games had 2 or more goals plus with new coach Miguel Russo they should be a more attacking team, same as Independiente Rivadavia in the last 4, so I have to go with the OVER here on this extremely short line.
