Independiente Rivadavia vs Independiente
Independiente Rivadavia managed an important point on their visit to Newell’s Old Boys last Tuesday, when drawing 0-0 away. Martin Cicotello’s men made it 11 points in Liga Profesional action, a decent campaign despite having won only one of their last four league games (along with one draw and two losses). However, it’s not yet enough to climb out of the relegation zone in the point-average table (trailing Deportivo Riestra by three points).
Independiente are struggling at the moment. Last Tuesday, the team produced a terrible performance and ended up drawing 0-0 against Barracas Central at home. El Rojo accumulated seven points in as many Liga Profesional matches and they secured a single victory across their last eight league games, along with five stalemates and two defeats, which leaves them far away from the continental places in the aggregate table. Independiente took just two points from the last nine on offer as the visiting side. The reinforcements are still waiting to be cleared to play.
Even though the hosts are not the most reliable team and they are still in the relegation zone, they’ve shown signs of improvement in these first two games since the Copa America break getting 4 out of 6 points and not conceding a goal. Independiente on the other hand has looked terrible with a clear 3-1 defeat at Instituto and a scoreless draw at home vs Barracas, so I can’t see why they would be favorites here and I have to go with the hosts.
