Independiente Rivadavia vs Banfield
Independiente Rivadavia secured a massive point on their visit to Atletico Tucuman two weeks ago, when they came back from a two-goal disadvantage to make it 2-2. However, they are on eight league games without a win (drawing one and losing seven), a streak that dropped them down to the bottom spot of the point-average table, having taken just seven points in 11 Copa Liga Profesional rounds. At home, Independiente are on three consecutive losses since beating Huracan 2-0 in round three. On Wednesday 27, Martin Cicotello’s men won 1-0 over third-tier club Argentino de Quilmes in the Copa Argentina first round.
Banfield continue to produce an irregular campaign. Two weeks ago, they had to settle for a scoreless home stalemate against Talleres in an uneventful match. Even though they lost only one of their last seven Copa Liga Profesional matches (winning two and drawing four), El Taladro made it 11 points in as many matches (which is far away from the playoff berths in group A). On away turf, Banfield secured six of those points as a product of one victory, three draws and one loss.
Independiente Rivadavia has the worst defense in the league by far, with 21 goals conceded in 11 rounds including at least 2 in each of their last 7 league games. They are in a very bad situation in the relegation table and need to start winning games asap. I don’t fully trust them but I definitely expect an open game between two teams desperate for points.
