Independiente – Newell’s

Independiente fans will have felt incredibly frustrated as they wasted a big chance of securing a victory last Monday: they ended up drawing 1-1 away at Gimnasia LP after conceding in the fifth minute of stoppage time. El Rojo lost only one of their last four league matches, winning two and drawing one, but they remain threatened by relegation: accumulating 25 points, Ricardo Zielinski’s men are sitting in 21st spot and just six points above Huracan, who are currently losing their top-flight status via the aggregate table. Independiente are unbeaten in their last six home matches, having won four and drawn two.

Newell’s Old Boys continue wasting opportunities to enter the continental spots. Last time out, the team succumbed to an unlucky 2-0 away defeat to CA Central Cordoba after lacking effectiveness up front. That result means La Lepra are on five league games without a win (four stalemates and one loss), dropping down to the 13th spot of the Liga Profesional rankings on 30 points. Their last result also extended a winless streak on the road in domestic action to six games (drawing three and losing three).

As underish as the league overall and these two teams are, this totals line is to low to pass so I’ll take the over here as 2 goals are definitely possible.
