Huracan vs River Plate
Huracan put up a good fight on their visit to Racing Club last weekend, but they had a goal disallowed and ended up losing 2-1 away from home. That result means the team are now on five league matches without a win (two draws and three losses), which drops them down to 14th spot in the Liga Profesional table on 12 points. Seven of those were grabbed at Estadio Tomas Adolfo Duco, where Diego Dabove’s men registered two victories, one draw and one defeat in league action so far.
River Plate are flying high in the league at the moment. Last time out, they showed enjoyable football to beat Union Santa Fe 1-0 at home thanks to a strike from Ignacio Fernandez in the first half. Therefore, they are now on four consecutive victories in this competition and remain as Liga Profesional table toppers on 21 points, four above second-placed San Lorenzo, Racing Club and Rosario Central. Furthermore, El Millonario also won their last three domestic games on away turf, beating Tigre, Lanus and Sarmiento without even conceding. On Tuesday 4, River lost 3-1 away at Bolivia’s The Strongest in a Copa Libertadores group game.
I expect River to do some rotation here after the very tiring game in the huge altitude of La Paz, and that should open the door for Huracan to avoid a defeat at home after their big 4-1 win in Sudamericana on Thursday.
