Argentine Primera Division: Huracan v Lanus Odds for September 22, 2024

Huracan v Lanus

Huracan fans will have felt frustrated following an unexpected 1-0 away defeat to newcomers Deportivo Riestra in matchday 14. As a result, Frank Kudelka’s men made it three winless matches in league action (one draw and two losses without even scoring) in the context of a remarkable Liga Profesional campaign, accumulating 24 points. However, that negative streak displaced them from the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. El Globo lost 2-0 to Tigre in their last home match to break a 12-game unbeaten streak of seven victories and five stalemates as the hosting side.

Lanus continue finding trouble to overcome their irregularity in the league. Last time out, the team showed another worrying performance and had to settle for a 1-1 home stalemate against Union Santa Fe. In fact, El Granate made it five Liga Profesional matches without a win (four draws and one loss) to make it 19 points in 14 rounds, which however allows them to stay occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate rankings. Lanus are without a win in their last seven away matches in domestic action, drawing four and losing three in that time. On Wednesday 18, Lanus drew 0-0 against Independiente Medellin from Colombia in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals. Raul Loaiza is suspended for Sunday after reaching the yellow-card limit in the league.

After the midweek draw in the 1st leg of Copa Sudamericana and with a trip to Colombia to play next Wednesday the return game, Lanus will use here at least a mixed lineup with some reserves and it should give Huracan the chance to get out of this bad streak.
