Godoy Cruz vs Estudiantes
Godoy Cruz were thrashed by Racing Club 6-1 away in spite of having taken the first lead through Silvio Ulariaga, who was making his professional debut. El Tomba’s campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional has been terrible so far as the team managed only two points in nine matches and they remain bottom in the Fase Complementacion’s group B with a single point, which means the team have no further aims in the remaining two matches. Coach Diego Martinez left the club after the last match. Striker Santiago Garcia has been ruled out due to an argument with the board. At home, Godoy Cruz are on six top-flight games without a win, having drawn one and lost five.
With Pablo Quatrocchi as interim boss after Leandro Desabato’s departure, Estudiantes were able to celebrate their first victory in the Copa Liga Profesional last time out, when beating Velez Sarsfield 3-2 away. That win allowed them to make it four points in the Fase Complementacion’s group B (trailing leaders Newell’s Old Boys by five) and also stopped two negative streaks: 14 top-flight matches without a success (five draws, nine defeats) and ten winless games on the road (five stalemates and five losses).
Godoy Cruz has been a complete disaster for a very long time, and while Estudiantes is not a lot better at least they have shown some signs of life winning last week and scoring 4 goals in the last couple of games, so I’m going with them here.
