Godoy Cruz – Tigre
Godoy Cruz experienced an irregular season last term and will fight to keep their top-flight status this year (they occupy the 24th place in the relegation table). The team won only one of their last seven league matches, having drawn two and lost four. In fact, El Tomba grabbed a single point from the last nine available at home. Coach Diego Flores has eight new players at his disposal, with Tadeo Allende (from second-tier squad Instituto) and Kalazan Suarez as expected starters so far.
Tigre returned to the first division as B Nacional champions after getting relegated in 2019: they beat Barracas Central 1-0 at Banfield in the championship playoff in November. In fact, Diego Martinez’s men haven’t lost any of their last seven matches in the second tier, winning five and drawing two. On away turf, they took seven points from the last nine available. El Matador haven’t suffered significant changes in their squad, with no relevant departures and only seven arrivals.
No big changes in Godoy Cruz which is bad news for them as they are coming from a bad season, same thing for Tigre but they are the 2nd tier champions and I expect them to get something from this game.
