Argentine Primera Division: Gimnasia vs Velez Odds – Nov 8, 2020

Gimnasia LP is leaders in Group 6 following a good performance last time out when beating Patronato 3-0 at home thanks to goals from Johan Carbonero, Maximiliano Coronel and Eric Ramirez. In fact, the team made it ten points in their last five top-flight matches. At home, El Lobo is on six games without defeat, having won three and drawn three. Gimnasia LP assistant coach Sebastian Mendez (who replaces Diego Maradona due to health issues) welcomes back midfielder Jose Paradela, who has overcome his muscle issues.

Velez Sarsfield opened up their campaign in this competition with a 1-1 home draw against Huracan last weekend when coach Mauricio Pellegrino fielded an alternative XI. That means El Fortin managed a single win in their last four top-flight matches, alongside one draw and two defeats. On away turf, Velez has been irregular in 2020, earning seven points from 15 available in domestic action. On Wednesday 4, Velez drew 1-1 at Penarol from Uruguay in the return leg of the Copa Sudamericana’s round-of-32. Then, they advanced to the round-of-16 thanks to the away goals rule. Midfielder Pablo Galdames succumbed to a muscle injury and will miss out and the XI will be a game-time decision, but Mauricio Pellegrino will likely introduce several changes with regard to Wednesday’s game.

Can’t see this improved Gimnasia who are on a good run as underdogs at home, Velez hasn’t shown anything special so far and with the possibility of them fielding a team with some changes, I like the hosts’ chances.
