Gimnasia vs Tigre
Gimnasia LP fans will have felt devastated after the team’s 1-0 away defeat at CA Central Cordoba last Tuesday. That loss displaced them from the top of the league table: El Lobo remain on 36 points, in the 3rd place after registering two victories, one draw and two losses in their last five league matches. Thanks to their remarkable campaign, Nestor Gorosito’s men are still occupying one of the Copa Libertadores’ places in the aggregate table.
Tigre are improving game after game and they continue fighting for a continental ticket in their return to the top flight. Last Sunday, El Matador managed to beat Velez Sarsfield 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Blas Armoa and Facundo Colidio. Following that success, they made it five league games unbeaten, winning two and drawing three, to accumulate 27 points in the Liga Profesional. As a result, Diego Martinez’s men are now only one point behind the last Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate table.
Even though Gimnasia has been solid defensively they’ll be playing here against the 2nd best attack of the league and in an almost must win game I can imagine the hosts leaving open spaces.
