Gimnasia vs Racing
Gimnasia LP wasted a big chance of becoming one of the league leaders last time out, when they ended up drawing 1-1 away at Platense after conceding the equaliser in the 88th minute. El Lobo made it five points in the Liga Profesional and seven league games unbeaten (five wins and two draws) to continue occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table. Gimnasia are on three consecutive victories at their own stadium, having beaten Union Santa Fe, Newell’s Old Boys and Patronato.
Racing Club recovered from their recent slump by beating Velez Sarsfield 2-0 at home following a convincing performance last Thursday, when Matias Rojas and Fabricio Dominguez found the back of the net. La Academia accumulated six points from nine on offer in the Liga Profesional (one behind leaders) and remain at the top of the 2022 aggregate table so far: Fernando Gago’s men lost only one of their last 20 league matches, having won 12 and drawn seven in regular time. Racing lost to Godoy Cruz in their last away match after seven league games unbeaten on the road (four wins and three draws).
Some important missings for Racing, striker Tomas Chancalay, playmaker Leonel Miranda, striker Carlos Alcaraz, so I don’t understand why Gimnasia are underdogs and I have to bet on them.
