Argentine Primera Division: Gimnasia vs Platense odds for July 30, 2023

Gimnasia vs Platense

Gimnasia LP secured a massive point on their visit to one of the best teams in the league last Monday, when they drew 2-2 away at second-placed Talleres after trailing 2-0 at one point. However, that result also extended their winless streak to six Liga Profesional matches (four stalemates and two defeats). El Lobo are now on 29 points in the league table, leading Huracan (who are currently occupying the relegation spot) by seven. Gimnasia lost 3-1 to Boca Juniors in their last home match, which stopped a five-game unbeaten streak of two wins and three draws at Estadio Juan Carmelo Zerillo.

Platense played one of their worst games this season last weekend, when they succumbed to an unexpected 1-0 home defeat to Huracan, who are sitting in the penultimate spot of the league table at the moment. El Calamar suffered their third loss across the last five matches in this competition, winning one and drawing one in that time. As a result, they remain on 33 points, which is still a decent campaign and keeps them safe from relegation threat so far. Platense lost six of their last eight on away turf, along with one victory and one draw.

Gimnasia showed signs of life last week in their comeback at Talleres while Platense lost against one of the worst teams of the league. They’ve been awful away lately and they were eliminated of Copa Argentina midweek, so I’ll go with the hosts to finish the tournament with a win.
