Gimnasia vs Newell’s

Gimnasia LP continue finding trouble in the league. Last Tuesday, the team showed a poor version and had to settle for a disappointing scoreless home stalemate against CA Central Cordoba. As a result, El Lobo are on eight matches without a win in this competition, with six draws and two losses in that spell. Marcelo Mendez’s men accumulated 26 points in the Liga Profesional, which keeps them without any relevant aims for the remainder of the season. In fact, Gimnasia are winless in their last four at home, drawing two and losing two. Leonardo Morales succumbed to a muscle injury and will miss out.

Newell’s Old Boys are currently living in a deep crisis. On Monday, the team made several defensive mistakes and ended up losing 4-2 to Huracan at home. That result means Ricardo Lunari’s men are without a win in their last four league games, drawing one and losing three in that spell. La Lepra remain on 21 points in as many matches in the Liga Profesional, which places them far away from the continental berths in the aggregate table. To make matters worse, Newell’s are winless in seven on the road (three stalemates and four defeats). Centre back Gustavo Velazquez is suspended for Saturday after reaching the yellow-card limit.

Newell’s are a disaster lately, not only they can’t get a win but also they’ve conceded 13 goals in the last 6 games which is a lot for this low scoring league. Gimnasia is nothing special but at least they aren’t losing that much so at these odds I will trust them.
