Gimnasia vs Lanus
Gimnasia LP put up a good fight on their visit to River Plate last Thursday, but they eventually ended up losing 1-0 away in an intense game. Therefore, El Lobo are now on three league games without a win (having not scored in that spell), drawing one and losing two. Even though the team remain on 15 points in the Liga Profesional, which is a decent campaign for them, this negative streak displaced them from the Copa Libertadores zone in the aggregate table. On a positive note, Nestor Gorosito’s men are on six home matches unbeaten, with five victories and one draw since losing to Sarmiento 3-1 in April.
Last time out, Lanus secured a 2-2 home draw against Velez Sarsfield after trailing on both occasions in an entertaining match. The team continue producing a terrible campaign, having not won any of their last five league matches (and taking a single point in that spell). El Granate are on six points in nine matches in the Liga Profesional and also remain occupying the penultimate spot in the aggregate table. Furthermore, Lanus are on 15 winless matches on away turf in domestic action, having drawn five and lost ten in that time.
Good opportunity for Gimnasia to end this bad run against a weak Lanus that will have some important missings in defense.
