Gimnasia vs Independiente
Gimnasia LP wasted a big chance of reaching the top of the league table last Sunday, when they registered a scoreless away draw at Sarmiento in an intense match. Following this result, El Lobo are now on 30 points, two behind leaders Atletico Tucuman. Nestor Gorosito’s men have been unbeaten in their last seven Liga Profesional matches (four victories and three stalemates), which keeps them into the Copa Libertadores zone in the 2022 aggregate rankings. At home, Gimnasia haven’t lost any of the last nine, with seven victories and two draws.
Independiente fans should have felt gutted after the team’s 1-1 home draw against Velez Sarsfield’s alternative XI last Sunday as Julio Falcioni’s men conceded the equaliser in stoppage time. Therefore, they are now on five league matches without a win (four draws and one defeat), which means El Rojo are on 15 points in 16 matches in the Liga Profesional, occupying 25th spot in the aggregate table at the moment. On away turf, Independiente won one, drew three and lost four so far.
Gimnasia can become leaders if they win here, there were some internal problems during the week due to a debt the club has with some players, but they should left that behind and focus on beating this very poor Independiente that has been terrible playing away.
