Gimnasia LP keeps their hope alive in the Copa Liga Profesional thanks to their 1-0 away success at Velez Sarsfield, with Maximiliano Coronel netting the winner in the first half. Thanks to that success, El Lobo stopped a three-game winless run of two draws and one defeat and made it eight points to second spot in group 6, which means the side depend on themselves to advance to the Fase Campeonato. At home, Gimnasia has been unbeaten in the last seven, with three victories and four draws.
Thanks to Juan Garro’s goal in the first half, Huracan managed to beat Patronato 1-0 at home and are now leaders in group 6 on ten points (having leapfrogged Velez Sarsfield last weekend). The team only need one more point to clinch their ticket to the Fase Campeonato, having registered three victories, one draw and one defeat so far. Furthermore, El Globo are on three away matches unbeaten, having won two and drawn one of those.
Gimnasia must win to advance unless Velez can’t win at Patronato, but also Huracan can’t afford to lose if that happens so I expect a game where goal should open things up as both try to advance to the championship zone.
