Gimnasia vs Boca
Gimnasia LP are almost out of the fight for the title after their 1-1 away stalemate at Barracas Central last Thursday. The team are now on 37 points in the Liga Profesional, trailing leaders Boca Juniors by five with five rounds to go, as a result of their negative streak of three league games without a win (one draw and two defeats). However, El Lobo still need to continue earning points in order to secure a ticket for the 2023 Copa Libertadores (they are currently occupying one of the qualifying berths).
Boca Juniors finally climbed to the top of the league table last Sunday, when they beat Velez Sarsfield 1-0 at home in a hard-fought game thanks to a goal from Gonzalo Morales in the 79th minute. El Xeneize are now on 11 Liga Profesional matches unbeaten (eight victories and three draws) and they are in 2nd place, 2 points behind Atletico Tucuman, who won on Wednesday. On away turf, Hugo Ibarra’s men grabbed 13 points from the last 15 on offer since losing to Patronato 3-0 in late July.
It might sound a little crazy to take the OVER in a Boca game considering they had been winning every game 1-0 lately but here they will meet a Gimnasia in a definitely must win situation so I have to expect an open game with at least two goals.
