Gimnasia vs Boca Juniors
Gimnasia LP had a rough night last Tuesday: they showed a deflated version and succumbed to a deserved 2-0 away defeat at Atletico Tucuman. That result means El Lobo are now on four league games without a win, drawing three and losing one. Therefore, Sebastian Romero’s men remain on 28 points in the Liga Profesional table and they need to increase that tally in order to avoid relegation threats. On a positive note, Gimnasia have been unbeaten in their last five at home in this competition (two victories and three stalemates).
Even though they still have a lot to improve, Boca Juniors had enough to take advantage of Huracan’s crisis and beat them 1-0 in a boring game last Monday, with Luis Vazquez netting the winner in the 56th minute. Jorge Almiron’s men are now on three matches unbeaten in the Liga Profesional, winning two and drawing one, a streak that allowed them to climb into ninth spot of the respective table on 35 points. On a sorry note, El Xeneize have been winless in their last three domestic matches on the road, taking a single point from nine available in that spell.
Boca beat the worst team in the league but I’m still not convinced by them and while Gimnasia has been irregular lately, I still think they should be able to avoid a defeat at home here.
