River vs Patronato
River Plate’s impressive streak of eight consecutive league wins came to an end last Sunday, when they had to settle for a 1-1 away draw at Estudiantes. However, it’s not bad news for them: after 14 league games unbeaten (11 victories and three stalemates), the team remain as league leaders on 43 points, seven above second-placed Talleres with six rounds to go. At home, Marcelo Gallardo’s men are on nine league games without defeat, having won seven and drawn two in the process.
Patronato finally put an end to their 12-game winless streak of six draws and six defeats in league action last Monday, when they secured a 2-0 home success over Colon. Ivan Delfino’s men took advantage of that victory to leave the bottom spot of the relegation table, leapfrogging Aldosivi. The team also made it 20 points in 19 matches in this competition. On away turf, Ivan Delfino’s men are on nine matches without a win, having drawn four and lost five since beating Aldosivi in the league opener.
River should get an easy win here to put them closer to the championship.
