Gimnasia – Huracan

Gimnasia LP played one of their worst games this term in round 19, when they ended up suffering an unexpected 2-0 away loss at Union Santa Fe, who were bottom-placed before the game. El Lobo made it three league games without a win, drawing one and losing two without even scoring, and relegation is a threat again as a result of that streak: Sebastian Romero’s men remain on 22 points, leading the drop spot in the Liga Profesional table by just four. At home, Gimnasia lost only one of their last eight in domestic action, winning four and drawing three.

Huracan see their crisis getting deeper as the season progresses. In round 19, the team showed another worrying performance and ended up losing 2-0 away at CA Central Cordoba. That defeat means El Globo are winless in their last five league matches, with two draws and three losses without even scoring in that time. Following that run, they remain on 18 points in 19 matches in the Liga Profesional, sharing the drop spot in the league table with Velez Sarsfield, Independiente, Atletico Tucuman, Banfield and Union Santa Fe. Huracan also are winless in their last nine away matches in this competition, with three draws and six defeats since beating Defensa y Justicia 4-2 in the season opener.

Huracan just keeps losing and playing worse week after week, so even if Gimnasia is not the most reliable team at least they’ve been solid at home and I’ll trust them here at these big odds.
