Gimnasia – Huracan

Gimnasia LP took a step back in the context of a good start last Friday, when they ended up losing 3-1 away at Velez Sarsfield after conceding twice in stoppage time. Therefore, El Lobo remain on six points after four Copa Liga Profesional rounds, having won two and lost two and sitting out of the playoff spots in group A so far. On a sorry note, Gimnasia are now on three consecutive defeats at Estadio Juan Carmelo Zerillo, having lost to River Plate, Atletico Tucuman and Independiente Rivadavia.

Huracan fans will have felt relieved following their scoreless home stalemate against Independiente on Thursday night as the team suffered two sending-offs during the match. However, that result also means El Globo are on three league games without a win, drawing one and losing two, to make it four points in as many rounds in the Copa Liga Profesional. Huracan lost 2-0 to Independiente Rivadavia in their last away match to break a four-game winning streak on the road. Lucas Souto and Lucas Carrizo are suspended for Tuesday after being sent off against Independiente.

Both teams have been quite irregular so far this season but I can’t believe Gimnasia is on a 3 defeats streak at their own stadium, where they usually get their best results. Huracan will miss half of their starting defense (Souto and Carrizo) due to suspensions, so I’ll trust the hosts here to finally get their first points at home.
