Gimnasia – Aldosivi

Gimnasia LP seem to be determined to fight for the title. On Thursday, the team secured a big 2-0 away victory at Union Santa Fe with Leonardo Morales and Franco Soldano scoring. As a result, Nestor Gorosito’s men made it five league games unbeaten (four victories and one draw) to accumulate 28 points in second spot, trailing leaders Atletico Tucuman by only one. Furthermore, El Lobo hold onto their Copa Libertadores spot in the aggregate table. Gimnasia have been almost perfect at home lately, having managed 22 points from the last 24 on offer at Estadio Juan Carmelo Zerillo.

Juan Manuel Cuesta’s goal in the 89th minute allowed Aldosivi to take a massive 3-2 home success over Velez Sarsfield last Thursday. The team stopped a two-game losing streak in the Liga Profesional and made it 11 points in 14 matches to continue fighting to keep their top-flight status. However, El Tiburon remain occupying one of the drop places in the respective table following a poor campaign.

Despite last week’s win I’m still not convinced by Aldosivi. If Gimnasia really wants to fight for the championship, they definitely need to beat one of the worse teams at home.
