Estudiantes vs Velez
Estudiantes are showing a very good form with coach Eduardo Dominguez in the dugout. In their last league outing, the team secured a big 2-1 away success at Platense thanks to goals from strikers Mauro Mendez and Mauro Boselli, which allowed them to make it six league matches unbeaten (five victories and one draw). As a result, El Pincha accumulated 24 points, climbing into fifth spot of the Liga Profesional table after a poor start under departed boss Abel Balbo. Estudiantes also are on five home matches without defeat in league action, winning three and drawing two. On Tuesday 2, the side drew 0-0 away at Brazil’s Red Bull Bragantino in a Copa Sudamericana group match. Thinking of Sunday, midfielder Fernando Zuqui returns from suspension.
Velez Sarsfield are still struggling to find their best version. Last weekend, the team registered a lucky scoreless home draw against San Lorenzo in a game dominated by the visitors. El Fortin made it six league games without a win (drawing four and losing two since beating CA Central Cordoba 4-0 at home in round eight), which places them in the 18th spot of the league table on 16 points. On away turf, Velez are on three matches without a win, with one draw and two defeats in that spell.
Velez has been extremely disappointing lately and not even the coach change made things better for them. Estudiantes has been confident and should be able to beat them.
