Estudiantes vs Union
Estudiantes are going through a little slump in the Liga Profesional. In matchday 5, El Pincha succumbed to an unexpected 2-0 away defeat to relegation candidates Sarmiento after a poor performance. As a result, the defending champions made it three league matches without a win, drawing one and losing two in that time as Eduardo Dominguez’s men remain on seven points in this competition. On a positive note, Estudiantes are unbeaten in their last four domestic matches at Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi (three victories and one stalemate). Zaid Romero (sold to Belgian Club Brugge) and Javier Correa (Colo Colo, Chile) will be missed from now on.
Union Santa Fe are one of the best teams in the league at the moment. In matchday 5, the team showed a big display of effort to beat San Lorenzo 2-1 at home, reversing the score thanks to goals from Franco Pardo and Gonzalo Morales. El Tatengue remain as one of the Liga Profesional leaders on 13 points (along with Talleres and Huracan), also extending their unbeaten streak to six games in this competition (five victories and one draw). Union remain without defeat in the last four on the road, having won two and drawn two in that time.
Union was one of the best teams in the first rounds, looking quite solid and that’s one of the leaders so far. Estudiantes lost important players in the Copa America break like defender Romero, striker Correa and also won’t have captain Enzo Perez due to injury so I can see the visitors at least avoiding a defeat.
