Estudiantes vs Sarmiento
A strike from Luciano Lollo in the first half gave Estudiantes a massive 1-0 away success at Godoy Cruz last Saturday. Coach Abel Balbo took a little breather as his team claimed their first league win in 2023 after one draw and two defeats. Therefore, El Pincha accumulated four points in as many games so far, which is still below the fans’ expectations, and should increase their tally soon.
Sarmiento returned to losing ways last Monday, when they succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat to San Lorenzo in an intense game. That result means Israel Damonte’s men remain on four points in as many matches in the Liga Profesional while a poor form in their last ten league matches (a single victory, five draws and four losses) keeps them just one point away from the relegation zone in the point-average table.
Estudiantes has definitely a better team than what their poor numbers of the first 4 rounds say, and after they were able to get out of that bad streak with the win at Godoy Cruz, I expect them to start a better run as it was expected from them.
