Estudiantes vs Gimnasia
Estudiantes put an end to a four-game winless run in league action (two draws and two defeats) last weekend, when beating Aldosivi 1-0 at home thanks to a strike from Martin Cauteruccio in stoppage time. That victory allowed El Pincha to climb into third spot in group A on 15 points, which means they are currently qualifying for the playoffs. El Pincha’s last success also stopped a negative streak of three matches without a win at Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi, with the side drawing one and losing two.
Gimnasia continue finding trouble to handle their Covid-19 outbreak. Last weekend, the team were thrashed by Patronato (who were occupying the bottom spot in the group) 4-1 away, producing a terrible performance. El Lobo managed only one point from the last nine available in league action, which dropped them down to tenth spot in group B table on ten points (occupying the 20th place in the points average rankings). On away turf, Gimnasia remain winless this season, having registered three stalemates and two defeats so far.
Big derby, the game both teams are waiting all season, and it’s one Estudiantes usually wins lately and Gimnasia couldn’t win since 2014 with 7 wins for Estudiantes and 7 draws. Gimnasia will have some players back from covid infections but I still see Estudiantes as a better team and they should win at home.
