Estudiantes vs Boca
Estudiantes gave their fans a huge joy two weeks ago when they dominated their lifelong rivals and earned a 2-0 home win over Gimnasia LP, with goals from Edwin Cetré and Guido Carrillo. With that result, El Pincha extended their unbeaten league run to five matches (two wins and three draws) and became one of the leaders of Group A with 21 points. They are also just three points away from the last Copa Sudamericana qualification spot in the accumulated table. Estudiantes have picked up seven of the last nine points available at home.
Boca Juniors earned a hugely valuable result last Monday, defeating Barracas Central 3-1 away from home after falling behind early. With their second win in the last three league matches (along with just one defeat), El Xeneize climbed to third place in Group A with 20 points and, more importantly, moved up to second in the aggregate table, taking a big step toward qualifying for the next Copa Libertadores. Boca have also lost just one of their last five away games, winning three and drawing one. Leandro Paredes is suspended for Sunday after reaching the yellow-card limit.
Boca won’t have their captain and best player, Leandro Paredes, and they will be careful not to pick up any injuries or suspensions before next week’s Superclasico against River, so I’m going to trust Estudiantes here who will become leaders of their group with another home win.
