Estudiantes vs Argentinos Jrs
Estudiantes coach Ricardo Zielinski picked a completely alternative starting lineup at Rosario Central last Saturday and his team ended up losing 3-1. However, this result doesn’t count much as El Pincha had already secured the first spot in group B, accumulating 28 points in 14 games. However, the side broke a seven-match unbeaten streak of four victories and three draws in this competition. At home, Estudiantes won their last three games in league action, beating CA Central Cordoba, Tigre and Aldosivi. Striker Leandro Diaz and defensive midfielder Jorge Morel have served their respective suspensions and are available for the quarter-finals.
Argentinos Juniors entered the Copa Liga Profesional’s quarter-finals through their 2-1 home success over Union Santa Fe, climbing into fourth place in group A on 25 points by leapfrogging Newell’s Old Boys (who lost at Gimnasia LP). El Bicho also made it five league matches unbeaten, having won three and drawn two since losing away at River Plate in round nine.
Estudiantes has been arguably the best team in this competition or at least a top 3, so even though Argentinos can be a tough rival I can imagine that at home they should beat them to advance to the semifinals.
