Estudiantes – Tigre
Estudiantes fans will have felt frustrated after the team’s scoreless home stalemate against Racing Club as they created the better goalscoring chances and even had two goals disallowed. As a result, El Pincha have been dropped down from the top of the group B table, now accumulating seven points and trailing leaders Newell’s Old Boys and Godoy Cruz by two. However, Eduardo Dominguez’s men made it eight league games unbeaten, winning five and drawing three. At home, Estudiantes haven’t lost any of the last five, with three victories and two draws.
Tigre are showing a worrying version in the first weeks of the season. Last Monday, they couldn’t stop Boca Juniors’ offensive power and succumbed to a deserved 2-0 home defeat. That result means El Matador secured a single point in three rounds in the Copa Liga Profesional without even scoring and they also extended a winless run to five league games (two draws and three defeats). On away turf, Tigre lost five of their last six matches, just beating Belgrano in that spell.
Tigre has been just awful so far this season and I can’t see with this squad how they will get any better. Estudiantes won 2 out of 3 and were close being perfect in the 0-0 draw vs Racing, they still didn’t even concede a goal and should win here.
