Estudiantes – Tigre

Estudiantes continue improving game after game. Last Saturday, the team found it easy to thrash Barracas Central 6-1 away at Huracan. Thanks to that success, El Pincha remain as group B leaders on 21 points and need only six more to clinch their ticket to the playoffs. Ricardo Zielinski’s men are on four league games without defeat (having won two and drawn two since losing to Boca Juniors in round six). At home, Estudiantes managed 12 points from 15 on offer in the Copa Liga Profesional.

Tigre continue producing an excellent campaign on their return to the top flight. Last Friday, they took a big step towards the playoff by beating Huracan 2-1 at home. As a result, the team made it four league matches unbeaten (winning three and drawing one) to remain occupying one of the qualifying spots in group B with 19 points, trailing leaders Estudiantes by two. On a sorry note, Diego Martinez’s men are on three winless matches on away turf, with two draws and one defeat since they won over Barracas Central 2-0 in round three.

Even if Estudiantes might rest some regulars, they are still one of the hottest teams in the league and they should win at home against this Tigre that has a few more points than what they deserve.
