Deportivo Riestra – Newell’s
Deportivo Riestra continue to take steps towards securing their spot in the top flight. Last Friday, the team managed a valuable point on their visit to Gimnasia LP following a scoreless away stalemate. El Malevo are performing very well in the Liga Profesional, having not lost any of the last four matches (two wins and two draws) to accumulate 23 points in 15 rounds, which places them ten points above the relegation berth in the point-average table, occupied by Independiente Rivadavia. In fact, Riestra hold an impressive six-game winning streak at their own stadium.
Newell’s Old Boys seem to be improving after coach Sebastian Mendez’s departure. Last Saturday, the team celebrated a hard-fought 1-0 home success over Tigre thanks to Saul Salcedo’s goal in the 71th minute. La Lepra stopped an eight-game winless streak of four draws and four losses in league action to make it 16 points in the Liga Profesional, staying five points behind the last Copa Sudamericana berth in the aggregate table. On away turf, Newell’s collected just two points from the last 12 on offer.
I have to trust Riestra and their great run at home. Sooner or later the winning streak at their own stadium will end, but Newell’s is a weak rival despite their lucky win vs Tigre so the hosts are worth to bet on at these odds.
