Defensa y Justicia saw their six-match unbeaten streak of four victories and two draws coming to an end last time out, when they lost 1-0 away at Platense in a controversial match. That result represented their third consecutive league game without a win (drawing the previous two) and El Halcon remain on 14 points in the Liga Profesional, occupying third spot so far and trailing leaders River Plate by four. Besides, Defensa grabbed seven points from the last nine on offer at home (since losing to Huracan in the season opener).

Velez Sarsfield played their best match of the season in round eight, when they easily thrashed CA Central Cordoba 4-0 at home to earn their first win in coach Ricardo Gareca’s second spell at the club. El Fortin made it three league games without defeat (two victories and one draw) to continue climbing positions in the Liga Profesional table: they occupy tenth spot on 12 points at the moment. Velez managed four points from nine on offer on away turf, winning one, drawing one and losing one.

Velez showed some really good football under new coach Gareca in the previous round, Defensa at home has scored in all games so far this season, so I expect to see at least a couple of goals here.
