Defensa y Justicia vs Union
Defensa y Justicia showed another interesting performance last Monday and secured a valuable point on their visit to Rosario Central following a scoreless draw. El Halcon made it six league games unbeaten since coach Sebastian Beccacece’s departure (winning three and drawing three) to accumulate 31 points in the Liga Profesional, which allows them to hold onto one of the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table. Defensa are on four games unbeaten at home, having won two and drawn two since losing to Boca Juniors 1-0 in August.
Union Santa Fe finally managed to break their five-match winless streak of one draw and four defeats in league action last Saturday, when they beat Sarandi Arsenal 1-0 at home thanks to a strike from Mauro Luna Diale in the 78th minute. El Tatengue made it 30 points in this competition (with one game in hand), but they are almost out of the fight for the continental tickets. Gustavo Munua’s men have been without a win in their last seven away games, having drawn three and lost four since beating Banfield in early July.
Union without their best striker, Jhonathan Alvez, should have trouble against this improved Defensa y Justicia that looks motivated and needs the points to get a Copa Sudamericana place.
