Defensa y Justicia – Estudiantes

Defensa y Justicia made it two consecutive victories without conceding in the Liga Profesional last Saturday, when beating Argentinos Juniors 2-0 away thanks to goals from Nicolas Tripichio and Walter Bou. As a result, the team are now producing a decent campaign, with 21 points and having lost only one of their last ten league matches (four wins and five draws), even though they are far away from the continental spots following their poor performance in the first semester. At home, El Halcon are on six league games without defeat, having won four and drawn two since losing to Godoy Cruz in July.

Thanks to Jaime Ayovi’s strike in the sixth minute of stoppage time, Estudiantes recorded a 2-2 home draw against Rosario Central last Friday. Therefore, they extended their unbeaten streak to six league matches (two victories and four stalemates). As a result, Ricardo Zielinski’s men made it 26 points in the league table, seven behind leaders River Plate and sitting in third place. They also remain fourth-placed in the 2021 aggregate table, which gives them a big chance of qualifying for the Copa Libertadores in 2022.

Can’t understand why odds on Defensa are so high considering their latest performances, so I’m going with the hosts not to lose here.
