Defensa y Justicia – Central Cordoba
Defensa y Justicia are one of the best teams in the league at the moment. Last Wednesday, they secured three massive points by beating Tigre 1-0 away thanks to a goal from Nicolas Fernandez in the 77th minute. El Halcon are now unbeaten in their last four league matches (three victories and one draw) to make it ten points in group B, which is however not yet enough to occupy one of the playoff spots. Defensa beat Platense 3-0 in their last home match to stop a three-game winless run of one draw and two losses at Estadio Norberto Tomaghello. First-choice goalkeeper Enrique Bologna continues to recover from a knee problem. Coach Julio Vaccari would repeat the XI.
CA Central Cordoba put up a good fight on their visit to Boca Juniors last Wednesday, but they couldn’t stop the hosts’ offensive power and ended up losing 2-0 away. Therefore, Abel Balbo’s men accumulated only three points in five matches in the Copa Liga Profesional. In fact, El Ferroviario lost six of their last eight league games, winning one and drawing one in that time. To make matters worse, Central made it six away encounters without a win (three stalemates and three losses).
Defensa are in a solid run and they will host one of the worst teams in the league, and I can’t see how they will be able to hold the hosts offensive power.
