Defensa y Justicia – Aldosivi

Defensa y Justicia continue to struggle. The team put up a good fight at leaders Gimnasia LP in their last league game, but they ended up losing 1-0. As a result, El Halcon are now on seven league games without a win (four draws and three defeats) and they remain on four points, sharing the bottom place of the Liga Profesional table with Aldosivi. However, Sebastian Beccacece’s men are still into the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. At home, Defensa are unbeaten in their last six games in domestic action (although five of those ended in draws).

Coach Leandro Somoza started his spell at Aldosivi in the best possible way: the team managed to beat Rosario Central 2-1 at home with Leandro Maciel netting the winner in the 83th minute. Thanks to that win, El Tiburon stopped a ten-match winless streak of two draws and eight defeats in league action and made it four points in the Liga Profesional (sharing the bottom spot with Defensa y Justicia). Regarding relegation, the side remain level with Godoy Cruz, only above Patronato, which means they would have to decide their top flight status in a playoff so far. On a sorry note, Aldosivi are on six without a win on the road, drawing one and losing five since beating Lanus 2-1 in April.

The last two placed teams meet and I expect them to take risks and go for the win. Aldosivi is getting desperate for points to avoid relegation and this should give us an open game with goals.
