Colon vs Talleres
Andrew Teuten’s strike in the 91st minute allowed Colon to secure a massive 2-1 away victory at defending champions Boca Juniors in a hard-fought game last Sunday. Therefore, El Sabalero managed their first win in 2023, stopping a 12-match winless streak of seven draws and five defeats in league action and also making it nine points to climb from 28th to 24th spot in the Liga Profesional table (now leading bottom-placed Union Santa Fe by two). On a sorry note, Colon are on seven home matches without a win: they drew three and lost four since beating Patronato 1-0 in October.
After a mini slump, Talleres are playing enjoyable football at the moment. Last Friday, the team secured an easy 3-0 home success over Barracas Central to make it two consecutive victories in the league. Therefore, Javier Gandolfi’s men accumulated 19 points in ten matches, climbing into third spot of the Liga Profesional table, five points behind leaders River Plate. Furthermore, Talleres have been unbeaten in their last five away matches, winning four and drawing one since losing to Velez Sarsfield 2-1 in October.
Talleres is clearly the best of these two but after Colon’s first win of the season in a very important game at Boca, I’m going to trust them to keep improving and not lose here.
