Colon – Newell’s

Colon continue getting better under recently-appointed coach Nestor Gorosito, but it’s not yet enough to claim victories. Last time out, the team managed a scoreless away draw at Gimnasia LP, which means El Sabalero remain winless in the Liga Profesional, accumulating three points and occupying the bottom spot of the league table at the moment, alongside Banfield. In fact, El Sabalero are on nine league games without a win, drawing four and losing five in that time. At home, Colon secured a single point from the last 15 on offer.

Newell’s Old Boys come off a much-needed breather, taken last time out when they beat Barracas Central 1-0 at home thanks to a strike from Facundo Mansilla in the first half. As a result, Gabriel Heinze’s men entered the Copa Sudamericana zone on ten points, following three victories, one draw and two defeats in the 2023 Liga Profesional. However, La Lepra have been facing trouble on the road lately: Newell’s are on four away matches without a win, drawing two and losing two since beating CA Central Cordoba 3-0 in October.

Even if Colon is not reliable by the numbers, I will trust them here as they have a good new coach that is already making them better, and Newell’s has been awful when playing away.
