Colon – Aldosivi

Colon had to settle for a scoreless home draw in an uneventful derby against Union Santa Fe two weeks ago. That result means El Sabalero made it 12 points in seven rounds in the Copa Liga Profesional to stay occupying one of the qualifying spots in group B. On a sorry note, Julio Falcioni’s men are on three league games without a win, having drawn two and lost one since beating Barracas Central 2-1 (playing as hosts at Patronato). However, Colon are on four home matches unbeaten, having won three and drawn one in that time.

Aldosivi made it two consecutive successes in this competition last time out, when they beat Patronato 3-1 at home in an entertaining game. Having won three of the last five games (along with one draw and one defeat), Martin Palermo’s men made it 10 points in group B to occupy fifth place (two points behind Colon, who are sitting in the last qualifying berth). In fact, El Tiburon leapfrogged Sarandi Arsenal in the relegation table, reaching the 23rd spot and opening a four-point gap over the drop zone.

Colon is a few days away from debuting in Copa Libertadores and I expect them to struggle against an Aldosivi with a good attack that has improved lately.
